Introduction

This privacy policy explains how Aglow International collects, processes, handles and protects your personal information. Aglow strives to implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information and to protect it from loss or any unauthorized access. Your personal information that is stored on our websites or in our database and access to that information is limited to authorized Aglow International staff.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

To the extent permissible under applicable law, the information we collect  will include but may not be limited to: name, address, telephone number, email address and payment details where applicable about you and any other individual whose details you provide to us when you: 

  • register to use our websites, applications or services; We may also ask you to provide additional information about your preferences;
  • enter into a financial transaction by placing an order, making a donation or registering for an Aglow event using our websites;
  • complete online forms, take part in surveys, post on our message boards, post any blogs, download information such as Bible studies or other publications or participate in any other interactive areas that appear on our website or within our application or service;
  • interact with us using social media;
  • provide your contact details to us when registering to use or accessing any websites, applications or services we make available or when you update those details; and
  • contact us offline, for example by telephone, fax, SMS, email or post.

We will also collect your information where you only partially complete and/or abandon any information input into our websites and/or other online forms and may use this information to contact you to remind you to complete any outstanding information and/or for marketing purposes. 

We will ask your permission prior to  collecting information from your devices (including mobile devices) and applications that is used   to access and use any of our websites, applications or services (for example, we may collect the device identification number and type, location information and connection information such as statistics on your page views, traffic to and from the sites, referral URL, ad data, your IP address, your browsing history and your web log information)  We may do this using cookies or similar technologies (as described in below).

As permitted by applicable laws, we may enhance your personal information that we collect from you with information we obtain from third parties that are entitled to share that information; for example, information from credit agencies, search information providers or public sources (e.g. for customer due diligence purposes).

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

We keep contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that is send to your browser from a website server and can be stored on your computer. In the event that  you leave a comment on one of Aglow’s sites,  you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account on one of Aglow’s sites and you log in to our site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on all Aglow sites  may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We may use information generated and stored during your use of our services to assess your response and interaction with the content we provide  to enable us to give you the best service  experience possible. These uses  include to:

  • generate content for  you which may be useful to you, based on your use of our services;
  • carry out research and development to improve our services and products;
  • develop and provide new and existing functionality and services to improve your experience with us (including statistical analysis, benchmarking and forecasting services); and 
  • provide you with location based services  where we collect geo-location data to provide a more relevant experience.

Whenever we use your information for our legitimate interests, we will ensure that your information is processed on a pseudonymised basis and displayed at aggregated levels, which will not be linked back to you or to any living individual. 

You have the right to object to how we use your personal information  If you wish to do so, please contact us at aglow@aglow.org to discuss this further. Your objection, may affect our ability to provide certain services and/or products for your benefit. We will be happy to explain these considerations to you.

Who we share your data with

Aglow International will not sell, lease, rent or exchange your personal information we receive from you at any time with any other individual or organization.

By necessity, we share your data with payment processors, and third party service providers when you make a donation, register for an event or purchase a product from us. These third party vendors are required to securely store your data and destroy the data upon completion of the transaction or service they provide on behalf of Aglow. Otherwise, your personal information is not shared outside of Aglow.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on one of our websites, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of  their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. We retain your information until such time as you ask us to remove it from our database. You can make that request by logging in to your account at http://myaglow.org

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account with us, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you are a citizen of the European Union, Aglow recognizes your rights under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). If at anytime, you wish to access or update your personal information, make changes to your opt in/opt out email preferences, or request a deletion of your personal information please contact us at aglow@aglow.org
